Trying out Smunch at Gallo Blanco

I have been getting much more involved into twitter related events lately. Over the last few months I kept seeing references to something called #smunch. Well this time around I was actually in town, had the time to go and knew a few of the tweeps that would be there. Keep in mind when I say knew, I just mean I have conversed with them via twitter.

The event was setup via twtvite. I have seen this used for several events and it is great for tweetups. There was one slight problem I found out later. The event was setup in Mountain Standard Time. Arizona doesn’t use Day Light Savings Time and thus my Google calendar is set to Mountain Standard (Arizona) Time. So I was in downtown Phoenix an hour early. No worries though I just stopped by LUX coffee and ended up running into several friends.

Shooting Stars

shooting-stars-at-maito-jalisco I have just spent a week on the beach in San Diego. I have only been here a couple times and usually very short trips and usually filled with busyness. So what has this trip done for me? It has made me realize again that sometimes you only get that one fleeting moment to see life at it’s greatest. And when that thing happens you have to be awake(mentally) enough to see it. Further you have to be able to appreciate the little things that life has in store for you.

The closest thing that I can relate it to is a shooting star.

Found a JPG to animated GIF convertor – Think Triple Shot

I have a good friend who introduced me to the timed triple shot. Basically you setup your camera in a solid place and wait 10 sec for the first picture. then three seconds later the second shot, and finally another three seconds the third and final shot. In order to give these justice you have to animate them. I did some searching and found http://gickr.com to be up to the task. They have far to many popup ads embedded in the site but if your images aren’t too big it works great…enjoy:

after our first tasting for the day…don’t miss the tiger..that’s me 🙂

Stream of Random from Napa Trip

Hey Napa Peeps,

I just have to say that I had very low expectations for this weekend and it was far better than I could have ever imagined. If you would have told me that we would have had such an amazing time at happy hour I would have never believed it. In order to celebrate it I thought I would list out some random things about our weekend that I look forward to keeping in my memory. Great trip everybody!!

The List:

Sometimes Life Just Needs a Good Soundtrack

Today morning seemed to come way too early. Was it my job? I have actually been blessed to work at a great company with great people, so nope. Was it my personal life? I just spent all weekend enjoying good times with great people, so nope. Was it my body? I did just do 160 lunges on Saturday so my legs were a little sore, and my right foot hurt a little, so maybe this had a little to do with it.

As the snooze button kept reappearing in my life every 5 minutes 5:30 quickly became 6:05.

Marathon Training Time and the Replenishment Meal After

All right so I was catching up on twitter after my run and noticed a tweet from @halo_slippin and thought, perfect idea I will show him what I am doing and he can tell me how bad it is for me. Or something like that.

First off the results of the run were 145 minutes or 2 hours 25 minutes to run 14.0 miles. Very close to the time I would need to finish the marathon in 4.5 hours. However after running at that speed for that long there is no way I could make the full 26.2 and keep up that speed. So I will be happy to be under 5 hours.

Also beware there are lots and lots of pictures with this post and an official RFC for @halo_slippin or Dr Halo or Dr slippin I don’t know. Lets start with  the picture of the finish of the run

New Training tool for my BlackBerry Curve – SpeedOmeter by Adapta

I found this great little tool on CrackBerry the other day and finally got a chance to try it. I used it in the car on the way to work today. It kept very, very close to the mileage and speed that the car registered. So I decided to give it a try on my run tonight. Great tool instead of buying one of those overpriced GPS watches.

Now if someone can explain to me how the blackberry can track satellites while being buried in my fanny pack, that would be great.
